Rosca de Reyes, or Three King's Bread is a round, soft, spongy bread with sweet, soft, sugary ribbons, fruit, and available with either a hint of orange or ruby red grapefruit. The ring represents the crowns the three kings wore who came to welcome Jesus at his birth. The sugary ribbons represent the stars that guided them. The knife that cuts the bread represents the danger Jesus was in if he was found. Baby figurines are placed inside the bread to signify the blessings to be bestowed on the recipient of each. This cultural bread is served with Mexican hot chocolate and to be shared with friends and family on January 6th. Then, the recipient of the baby Jesus figurine throws a fiesta called Candlemas. This fiesta falls on February 2 and the recipient of the first figurine provides tamales for the celebration..
